Opening times:
As part of the celebration of the centenary of the birth of Nemesio Antúnez, the National Library and the Nemesio Antúnez Foundation have joined forces to mount an exhibition that explores a lesser-known aspect of one of the country’s most important painters, engravers and cultural managers: his work as an illustrator and designer.
For the first time, this exhibition brings together the original illustrations produced by Antúnez for the works of writers such as Pablo Neruda, José Donoso, Nicanor Parra and Humberto Díaz-Casanueva, along with his posters for exhibitions and political campaigns and work for catalogues and record covers as well as audiovisual recordings.
Together, the exhibition demonstrates Antúnez’s prolific and untiring creativity, reflecting key themes also found in his painting and his efforts to make art more democratically accessible.
