Traditional Craftwork - Horse Tack
These items of tack, which are Arab in origin, were introduced into Chile by the Spanish conquistadores. The characteristics they acquired in Chile include the use of carved wood and heavy ornamentation.
The low-relief carvings usually depict suns, rosettes, frets and ribbons to which color is not applied.
